Take time now to decide which courses you want to attend
in this certification cycle and sign up for those courses
right away. If you need the #109 Advanced Soils course, sign
up early to be sure you will be able to attend the class at
the location and time that suits your schedule. #342 Shallow
Limiting Zone At-Grade Absorption Area is still on hold and
waiting for the new Alternate Systems Guidance to be finalized.
No fees are charged to attend or take a DEP-sponsored SEO continuing
education course. #109 Advanced Soils has a $50 required seat
reservation deposit that will be returned upon arrival for
the first day of the class. However, if you do not attend
the class and you did not properly cancel your registration
(at least eight (8) days before the class), your deposit will
be forfeited. If PSATS does not receive your check 30 days
prior to the course, you will be removed from the course.
A course may only be taken once for continuing education credits during a certification cycle. However, certain courses may be taken again for credit in a new certification cycle. The rules of retaking courses are below.
#109-If you have already taken and passed the test for the #109 Advanced Soils course, you cannot retake the course for continuing education credits. If you would like more soils training, the #106 Soil Profiles course is available and may be retaken for credits in a new certification cycle.
#106, #206, #207, #208, #210, #211, and #214 -These courses
may be completed for continuing education
credits only once in a certification cycle, but they may be
retaken for credit in a new certification cycle.
#300s Web-Based Courses-These courses may only be taken once for continuing education credits. They may not be retaken for credits in a new certification cycle.
#400s Web-Based Optional Posttests-These tests may only be taken once for continuing education credits. They may not be retaken for credits in a new certification cycle, even if you retake the classroom course again.
SEOs receive 18 credit hours for taking the #109 Advanced Soils course and successfully passing the test. Anyone who does not pass the test for #109 Advanced Soils will receive nine (9) credit hours for attending the course. Upon retaking the course and successfully passing the test, he or she will receive the other nine (9) credit hours. Once an SEO has passed the course, he or she may not retake the #109 Advanced Soils course.
SEOs who successfully complete an alternate technology Web-based training course may issue a permit for that technology, but only after they are notified of successful course completion via e-mail. At that point, DEP review will not be required for permit issuance for that particular technology. (It is suggested that you print out a copy of this successful completion e-mail and store it with your class certificates for proof of completion.)
For the first time, IRSIS training is now available in a personalized format with an experienced PSATS SEO instructor for SEOs who need the training to confidently issue permits for IRSIS. No credits are given.
